Capital allocations to the museums and galleries sponsored by the DCMS are to rise by 147 per cent in cash terms to £191.4 million over the next three years, compared to the previous period, Culture Minister Margaret Hodge announced today (6 December 2007).

Around £108 million will help maintain museums’ assets such as buildings and collections, while the rest will fund new projects including £50 million for the Transforming Tate proposal, announced yesterday (5 December 2007).
