£4 Million To Help Gifted And Talented Pupils And Boost Entries To University In Deprived Communities

Schools Minister Andrew Adonis today (14 November 2007) announced £4 million of new funding for innovative independent/state school partnerships to encourage progression to university among gifted and talented pupils from deprived communities with a special focus on maths, science and modern foreign languages.

Speaking at the Girls’ School Association Conference in Leeds, Andrew Adonis said: “We need to be innovative and bold to meet our aim of raising standards in deprived communities.
