Ms Winterton spoke at the event and answered questions from an invited
audience to promote the Governments Backing Young Britain campaign. The
Backing Young Britain campaign aims to bring national and local Government,
businesses and the public and voluntary sectors together to create new
opportunities for young people aged 16-24. This can be through:
• offering an Apprenticeship
• giving a young person a job
• or providing experience of work.
The event was hosted by Tim Campbell, founder of the Bright Ideas Trust
– a charity investing in young business start-ups, and Ms Winterton.
They were joined on the panel by Neil Baxter- Managing Director of Bramall
Construction and Ann Jackson - Jobcentre Plus South Yorkshire District
Manager. At the event Ms Winterton met with business people from all across
the region including members of the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of
Commerce (pictured).
