Yorkshire and Humber Minister continues to make case to Lloyds

Published: Wed, 21 Jan 2009 14:45:49

Regional Minister Rosie Winterton, Assistant Regional Minister Jeff Ennis and Yorkshire Forward Chief Executive Tom Riordan met Lloyds' top implementation team in London yesterday to continue pressing the case for jobs in Yorkshire.

Rosie Winterton said, 'It is very encouraging that the day after the merger, we continued a constructive dialogue with Lloyds Banking Group's key decision makers on how the merger will affect Yorkshire. They reaffirmed their commitment to regular meetings and we will take every opportunity to champion the strength of the Yorkshire Region. Lloyds has already given its signal that Halifax will continue to be a key brand under the umbrella of the newly created Group.

Yorkshire staff of the new banking group in the region can be confident that we are making a strong case and I will continue to work with Yorkshire Forward and others to keep up the momentum and press for the best possible outcomes for Yorkshire and Yorkshire jobs"

Tom Riordan, Chief Executive of Yorkshire Forward adds; "We are pleased
with the progress that has been made in building good relationships with
key decision makers within Lloyds TSB and believe we have presented a
compelling case for Yorkshire."

Further meetings will be held to discuss in detail the strengths of the workforce and locations in Yorkshire.
