Appointment of Terry Hodgkinson, Yorkshire Forward Chair

Published: Tue, 21 Nov 2006 00:00:00

Margaret Hodge, Minister for Industry and the Regions, yesterday announced the re-appointment of Terry Hodgkinson, Chair of Yorkshire Forward (YF) for a period of three years, from 14 December 2006 until 13 December 2009.

Margaret Hodge said:
"Terry Hodgkinson has brought energy and focus to the board of Yorkshire Forward. I am pleased to extend the appointment for a further three years to continue the valuable work of leading the agency as a driver of economic development in the region."

Terry Hodgkinson said:
"I am delighted to have been asked by Margaret Hodge to serve a further term as Chair of Yorkshire Forward. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first term of office - it has been exceptionally exciting and rewarding, offering the opportunity to make a positive difference to the lives of people, businesses and organizations right across our region.

I am really looking forward to building on the last three years to ensure that our strategic interventions have the maximum impact on those areas of the economy that need it most. With a Regional Economic Strategy recently endorsed by Government, I believe the region is well placed to compete in today's global market place and I will continue to work with partners and stakeholders in promoting Yorkshire as the place to do business."

Yorkshire Forward is a business-led organisation and provides strategic leadership to promote economic development, enterprise and regeneration within Yorkshire and The Humber, tackling economic differences as well as driving up the performance of the region as a whole.

The Chair of Regional Development Agency board post attracts a remuneration of £78,413 per year for a commitment of three days per week.
The original appointment was made following open competition in accordance with the requirements set down in the Commissioner for Public Appointments Code of Practice. All appointments are made on merit and political affiliation plays no part in the selection process.
Terry Hodgkinson does not hold any other ministerial appointments.
Within the last five years, Terry has not undertaken any political activity
