Cash for Barnsley and North Lincs hit by January floods

Published: Tue, 10 Jun 2008 13:42:34

Six councils affected by flooding in several parts of the country in January are being given the chance to claim cash from the Department for Communities and Local Government. These include Barnsley and North Lincolnshire in our region.

Local Government Minister John Healey told the House of Commons today that the local authorities will get back 85 per cent of the eligible costs they incurred. The exact amount of funding will depend on a final assessment of the councils' claims under the Bellwin Scheme.
