£9 million flood road repair money announced for Sheffield

Published: Mon, 10 Mar 2008 10:42:52

Transport Minister Rosie Winterton today confirmed £9 million to help communities in Sheffield affected by last summer's flooding. This is part of more than £23 million being provided to eight local authorities to repair roads and bridges damaged by the floods. It is an interim allocation to help councils meet their immediate needs.

This money is part of a comprehensive package of support of up to £85 million the Government has made available to flood-hit communities to help them get back on their feet following the floods. It brings total support for Sheffield to date to £10.1 million.

North East Lincolnshire County Council will receive £1.49 million. East Riding Council will receive £1.08 million. Barnsley will receive £874,000 and Rotherham will receive £102,000.
