Some of these projects, such as the two ‘renewable energy assessment studies’ are referred to elsewhere, and others are released through the Regional Energy Forum.
However this page will identify major projects or material not found elsewhere as projects are completed.
Recently completed reports supported by GOYH include:
Delivering Sustainable Energy in North Yorkshire :
Land Use Consultants and the National Energy Foundation were commissioned by a partnership of authorities in North Yorkshire to undertake a sub-regional renewable energy study. GOYH provided funding for this study.
The study was completed in October 2005 and built upon the previous Regional and Sub-Regional Renewable Energy Assessment and targets studies, and the work of Yorkshire Renewable Energy Network and York & North Yorkshire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre.
It sought to answer the following questions:
How can renewable energy targets be delivered?
What provision can local planning authorities make through their Local Development Frameworks?
What can Local Authorities do to deliver sustainable energy development?
The Study Documents are now available on this site below.
Wood fuel heating for public buildings. GOYH and the Forestry Commission jointly funded the publication (in June 2004) of a booklet ‘Woodfuel Heating for Public Buildings’ by the National Non-Food Crops Centre, based in York. This was produced to show the potential for generating heat from wood-fuelled systems in the 21st century and is particularly useful for those involved in the planning of new public buildings. Since then the booklet has been revised, and with additional funding support from Government Offices for the North East and North West and Framework for Change, the new booklet " Woodfuel Heating for Public Buildings in the North of England" was published in January 2006. This new version can be found below.
Energy 21-survey of grassroots renewable energy groups: Energy21, the hub of a national network of grassroots renewable energy groups has started to carry out a region by region survey of such groups which should also help facilitate closer working of local and regional government with grassroots community experts. The survey commenced with the Yorkshire andHumber region and, with funding from GOYH, the report for this region was published in May 2004.
We will continue to make documents or links available on this webpage as further projects are completed.
