Almost a million people in our region drink much more than they should do and are risking serious health problems. 48% of men and 40% of women in the region drink more than the recommended daily units of alcohol. Deaths from chronic liver disease have almost doubled in the region in the past ten years, in line with national trends.
We work with partners including local NHS services, the National Treatment Agency, local authorities, the police, probation services, prisons and the Home Office to tackle the health and social challenges associated with too much alcohol.
