Cluster Definitions and SIC Codes

The nature of clusters mean they tend not to fit in with standard industry/sector classifications. To guide project sponsors the Objective 1 Programme Directorate has defined the activities in the niche areas to be supported coding them, as far as possible, with 1992 Standard Industrial Classification (SIC92) codes.

This page contains three spreadsheets, which provide information on eligibility for business support.

Project Sponsors wishing to use the spreadsheets should firstly read the Cluster Definitions and SIC Codes Guidance Notes.

The spreadsheets accessible from this page include a small number of amendments to the definitions of the target clusters/sectors, made in January 2006.  The changes affect only the AMM, CDI and EET clusters and are highlighted in yellow.  These are the result of eligibility queries from project sponsors and analysis of ths data returned on individual businesses assisted.

As explained in the guidance notes, the list of SIC Codes is subject to change as activites are reviewed.  If you wish to be notified of any updates please contact the Business and Enterprise team.
