Cluster Development

The Cluster Action Plans will be implemented through a strategic programme of interventions largely in the form of directly commissioned projects or targeted calls for proposals. The rationale and objectives for each intervention are described together with an indication of timescale. Activity will be brought forward in a phased manner.

Details behind the headline interventions for each cluster can be accessed by clicking on the links below under Related Documents.  There are a number of actions, which will be managed using a cross-cluster approach to derive economies of scale and scope and to strengthen synergies between clusters. These are:

  • High Growth Business Starts/Spin-outs
  • Inward investment
  • Internationalisation
  • Knowledge transfer
  • R&D, innovation and technology transfer
  • Access to finance
  • Incubation
  • Supply chain
  • Skills development

The Prospectus for Cluster Development was launched in July 2002, and gives more information about cluster activity, as does  the Catalysing South Yorkshire’s Economy Brochure.

Details of which industrial sectors are included in each cluster can be found in " Cluster Definitions and SIC Codes", under " Related Documents."
