Better Regulation Executive - Making It Simple

Published: Thu, 08 Jan 2009 12:20:44

The Better Regulation Executive (BRE) has just released an overview of its progress on the better regulation agenda over the last year.

Making It Simple sets out the big picture on all the steps that BRE – and government – are taking to improve regulation. It gives real-life examples of how these steps are making life simpler for business, public sector workers and charities in the UK. One of the case studies within the document comes from the South West (The Eastern Eye Restaurant in Newton Abbot, page 19).

As announced in the Government's Simplification Plans published last year, the Government are on track to meet their target of cutting administrative burdens by 25% by May 2010. So far, around £1.9 billion a year in savings have been delivered through 240 implemented measures. The document gives a breakdown of these savings.
