Bristol early years centre highlighted by Ofsted

Published: Tue, 06 Mar 2007 14:08:10

Redcliffe Early Years Centre in Bristol has been highlighted by the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) for its good work in the Foundation Stage.

The centre was one of 144 settings visited for a new major new Ofsted report, The Foundation Stage: A survey of 144 settings, which has been published.

Inspectors found that the quality of provision at Redcliffe Early Years Centre is excellent and assessment procedures are outstanding.

Children are given very interesting and appropriate opportunities to develop their learning through an imaginative use of the Foundation Stage curriculum and High Scope approach. Children learn to plan their own activities and review what they have done. The curriculum is enriched by a number of exciting visits and visitors. Children enjoy growing vegetables and herbs on the Centre's allotment. Excellent assessment records are kept which give an overview of children's progress across the six areas of learning.
