Bristol hosts Core Cities Summit.

Bristol hosted the core cities summit on the 26th and 27th of June. Representatives from Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Sheffield are attended the Two day event.

The summit brings together stakeholders from cities, government and regional and national organisations. The Core City Summit gives delegates a chance to exchange ideas and share good practice.

The eight city councils first began working together in 1995, begining to set out a vision of the distinctive role these big cities must play in national and regional life in the 21st century.

The summit which was hosted by Bristol City Council continued to build on work the Core Cities are doing to accelerate economic and social progress and strengthen the UK's international competitiveness. More than 200 delegates attended including, government ministers and advisors, political leaders, think tank experts, and business and university representatives.
