This is the second round of special Kickstart funding and follows
£450m already released to build 11,500 homes, with the first of
nearly 10,000 workers already back on site.
John Healey said:
"Today I am announcing a further 265 projects shortlisted for a share of up
to £550 million. This second round of Kickstart funding could build
22,400 homes, support 12,000 jobs, train as many as 1000 apprentices
and build a further 11,000 affordable homes."
Regional Minister, Jim Knight, said:
"Sixteen schemes in the South West have already received £24m of
Government funding under round one of the Kickstart programme. This will
deliver 1,232 new homes across the region.
"The investment is supporting the construction industry at a time when it
needs it the most. We want to see the housing market moving again, creating
new jobs and apprenticeships, whilst also getting the best value for every
taxpayers pound. The next round of the programme will continue to show our
commitment to securing the future of the industry."
One shortlisted project is at Dolcoath, Camborne. This mixed use
scheme could bring forward up to 95 homes for market sale and affordable
rent as part of the wider regeneration of the Camborne and Redruth area.
