They will lead the process of establishing robust needs assessments, strong commissioning processes embedded within the
Every Child Matters framework and deliver benchmark services for young people.
The delivery plan sets out three overall key priorities for action:
- Reforming the delivery mechanism of the drug strategy and strengthening local accountability.
- Ensuring provision of services is built around the needs of vulnerable young people.
- Building capacity, including the quality and availability of services and the workforce.
High Focus Areas
The South West has 4 partnerships participating in Phase 2 of the High Focus Area Work. These are Bristol, Plymouth (from Phase 1) and Gloucestershire and Devon. Phase 2 of the HFA initiative is focussing on improving outcomes for young people. A team of consultants are working closely with the 9 Government Offices nationally and the Young People’s Programme Board on 9 themes. These are:
