Volunteering

From 1st April 2007 management of the The Millennium Volunteers (MV) programme, and responsibility for providing volunteering opportunities, passed from GOSW and Connexions to v - the charity behind www.vinspired.org. Their aim is to inspire more than 1 million young people aged 16–25 to give their time to volunteering on local projects that are of benefit to their community.

Young people can take a lot benefit from volunteering. They gain experience, confidence and skills and work as part of a team learning to solve problems and develop their own initiative. The opportunities are accessed via local providers and the projects are based around a wide variety of activities. Volunteering is also widely recognised by employers, universities and colleges.
