Developing an Integrated Youth Support Service

The vision for teenagers in Youth Matters is ‘something to do, somewhere to go, someone to talk to’. The aim is to provide the opportunities, support and challenge for every young person to make a successful transition to adulthood. Youth Matters also sets out a framework for integrating universal and targeted youth services. Local authorities are responsible for making sure services are developed around and meet young people's needs.

GOs have been given the responsibility of ensuring that all local authorities are on track to have a fully integrated youth support service (IYSS) in place by April 2008. Local authorities will be expected to bring their existing services together, incorporating Connexions, and develop targeted arrangements in specific local areas.

Funding from the Department for Children, Schools and Families is supporting the Training and Development Agency to help us roll out these arrangements across the region and to support local authorities.  One element of the package of support is a series of regional events, based on the Targeted Youth Support Framework.

These events have been running from April 2007 and focus on specific areas where local authorities will most benefit from support and advice. Information regarding these events can be found on the linked pages - links are at the bottom of this page. The events we are running and their dates are as follows:

7 June - Building a local case for change

12 July - Multi Agency Working

18 July - Teenage Pregnancy Hotspots

27 September - Service Delivery

20 November - Sustainability

Other events may be organised in the future, please bookmark this page to keep up to date with the events on offer. To book a place at one of the events send attendee names and contact details to remodellingevents@tda.gov.uk.
