This work will involve providing advice and support to local authorities, the police and other organisations providing services for children about the development of appropriate local guidance and practice. Safeguarding Advisers will also share information on the evaluation of local procedures, including good practice and training materials, with other regions, stakeholders and DCSF.
Georgie Mackintosh and Erica Whitfield are the Safeguarding Advisers for the South West region. They are based in GOSW and work to Karen O’Donnell, Deputy Director for Children and Learners. They also work closely with the Children’s Services Advisers (CSAs). Additionally, they are part of, and report to, the National Network of Allegations Management Advisers co-ordinated by the DCSF Children’s Safeguards Policy Unit.
