Essential Working Skills

Government Office for the South West has an important role in helping the DfES deliver its education strategy for the next five years and beyond.

This focuses on giving children an excellent start in education, enabling young people to equip themselves with life and work skills, and encouraging adults to achieve their full potential through learning. Improving adults’ literacy and numeracy skills is a key priority for the Government and this case study is one example of an approach to help staff ‘bush up on essential work skills’.

The Assistant Director responsible for adult skills policy within GOSW led the pilot programme with support from the HR team. The approach, as a large public sector employer, was to work with Ufi to promote ‘Brushing up Essential Work Skills’.

The Government Office South West and Learndirect Case Study can be found below in related documents.
