European programmes provide support for locally based economic regeneration projects that are supported by the local community. In doing this the European Programmes encourage community groups to influence and get involved in decisions which effect their local economy by involving them in the delivery of projects.
The types of projects that can be funded range from capacity building projects through to capital projects, such as the provision of community facilities that enable the provision of vocational training.
