Violence Against Women and Girls Consultation

Published: Tue, 10 Mar 2009 11:31:39

The largest ever cross-government public consultation to tackle violence against women and girls was launched on Monday 9 March 2009 by the Home Secretary, Jacqui Smith.

It includes a review into police powers for dealing with serial perpetrators of domestic violence and a review of the sexualisation of teenage girls.

The 'Together We Can End Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy' consultation sets out action government has taken to tackle all forms of violence against women and girls.  It looks at what more can be done to challenge the attitudes that may uphold it in order to help women and girls feel safer.

To view the consultation and take part in an online survey please visit the Home Office's Violence Against Women website.

To raise awareness and involve the general public in this consultation process a road bus will also be touring the region.  Information on where the bus will be visiting and when can be found in the document below.
