Published: Tue, 15 Sep 2009 14:53:00

The South East Regional Grand Committee met for the first time in Reading Town Hall on Monday 14 September between 10:30 and 1:00 pm.

Around 27 Members of Parliament from the South East attended (about a third of the Region’s MPs). Members of the public were welcome to witness the event and the public gallery was well attended.

The Regional Grand Committee followed the same format as existing national Grand Committees:

  • Regional Minister's Question Time (45mins), with questions tabled in advance by Members of Parliament
  • Debate (around 1hrs 45mins) on 'Identifying the growth sectors of the South East economy and ensuring their growth is maximised' with Jonathan Shaw MP, Regional Minister for South East England, opening the debate.

Further information about the event can be found in the Press Notice on the Regional Minister's press notice page.

The full transcript of events will be available shortly on the Parliament website.
