The Secretary of State was speaking at a conference hosted by Kings College London to launch the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence (ICSR).
Jacqui Smith speech (attached in full) made clear that:
- Our understanding of the causes of violent extremism has improved greatly;
- Objectives have been agreed across Government and with the police;
- The counter-radicalisation agenda covers the local, the national and the international; and
- We now have more programmes and extra funding.
