Objective 1

Objective 1 funding is the highest level of regional funding available from the European Union. To qualify for Objective 1 funding the community average Gross Domestic Product (GDP) needs to fall below 75% of the European Union average. As all areas in the South East region are above the 75% marker, the South East does not qualify for Objective 1 funding. In the UK, areas that qualify are Merseyside, South Yorkshire, Cornwall,the Scilly Isles, West Wales and the Valleys.
