Chance to have your say – Plans for Gypsies and Travellers & Travelling Showpeople in the North West

A public consultation starts today on proposed revisions to the Regional Spatial Strategy, published in September 2008.

The revisions include policies relating to the accommodation requirements of Gypsies and Travellers and Travelling Showpeople to ensure these communities have access to an appropriate number and distribution of pitches.  Revised regional parking standards are also included. 

 

The consultation follows extensive work led by the North West Regional Leaders Board, 4NW, with input from local authorities and the gypsy and traveller and travelling showpeople communities within the region. 

 

The consultation will last for a period of twelve weeks until 19 October and provides an opportunity for everyone to give their views.  Responses to the consultation will be considered by an independent panel which will conduct an Examination in Public in March 2010 and will provide recommendations on any changes to the proposals.
