Regional Minister's TeamLiz Meek:
Liz Meek has been Regional Director at GO North West since February 2008 and was previously the Regional Director at GO London. She delivers policies and programmes for 11 Whitehall departments and has focussed particularly on joining up the approach to worklessness in the region. Liz is also the national lead for the Government Office Network on community empowerment and social exclusion. Liz’s career has been centred on urban policy and regeneration and she advised Ministers on London issues and led on the policy and legislation to set up the London Mayor and Assembly. Before this, she was based in Nigeria with the Foreign Office, after working as a Private Secretary to four successive Ministers. In the early 1990s, she established the government unit responsible for input to the Manchester Olympic Bid and was later heavily involved in preparations for the London 2012 Olympic Bid.
Michelle McGuckien:
Michelle McGuckien is Head of the Regional Director’s office and the Ministerial Business Unit at GONW. Michelle is on secondment from the Ministry of Justice and has considerable experience dealing with Government policy, Ministers and Parliament
Ian Hamilton is the Head of Communications at GONW and provides strategic communications support for the Regional Minister. He joined GONW in 2006 and previously worked for the Government News Network (now COI News and PR North West). Sam Wilkinson:
Sam Wilkinson is Assistant to the North West Regional Minister and is first point of contact for the Regional Ministers office. Sam joined GONW in October 2008 on loan from CLG. He has worked for central government for ten years, including stints working on community renewal, planning, and as Private Secretary to three successive housing Ministers in Whitehall.
