Ministers have decided to transfer responsibility for the day to day management and delivery of English ERDF programmes to the Regional Development Agencies (RDAs). The exact structures have to be finalised but it is envisaged that a Government department will remain as the legal Managing Authority, with RDAs formally designated as Intermediate Bodies for programme delivery. More information on the NWDA ERDF programme.
The announcements follow a nationwide consultation on future Structural Fund spending in the UK, which closed in May 2006. The Government has also published a response to the consultation including a summary of stakeholders’ views.
The response to consultation sets out the Government's approach to allocating funding between the UK's nations and regions and the principles adopted for delivering the funds from 2007-2013.
The new National Strategy establishes three broad priorities for future Structural Funds spending: Enterprise and Innovation, Skills and Employment, and Environmental and Community Sustainability.
The North West’s regional plan for the 2007-2013 Programme is being developed. For more information see the Consultation Page.
