The Government Office for
the North West works with organisations across the Region to deliver
Government policies and programmes and to contribute a regional perspective
in their development.
We work for 12 Government Departments:
Which geographical areas do we cover?
We want to reflect the diversity of our region, by focusing our efforts on
the differing needs of all parts of the North West. We cover Cheshire,
Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and the Liverpool Region.
Who do we work with?
Many other organisations work with us across the region so that
we can achieve our aims. These include businesses, local education
authorities, schools, colleges and voluntary organisations.
Together we help government initiatives work at a local level. We also
reflect back the needs of the North west to central
Government.
Find Out More About the Region with Fact Files
Fact Files provide briefing for Ministers visiting
key cities and nine regions on seven key topic areas. They contain
maps, satellite images and council information, in addition to local and
national statistical information from the Office of National Statistics
(ONS) and local intelligence on children and learners, health and well
being, crime, transport, social inclusion and regeneration and European
funding.
The Fact Files help Ministers and other users to have the
most relevant and up-to-date information. Plans are in place to expand
coverage of the City Files from next March.
