Prevention, Fair and Early Treatment
Existing parts of the NHS and local authorities within the North East already have responsibilities for the key areas in this theme.
The group will lead and deliver this part of the strategy most effectively by
directing and supporting them to realign their priorities.
It has identified four principle areas of work – catching cancer earlier,
treating strokes more quickly, developing the public health workforce and
spending more on prevention of disease.
Among those who will be helping are the North East Cancer Network, the North
East Cardiovascular Network, the School of Public Health and directors of
finance from health service commissioners.
