The group aims to reduce the number of excess winter deaths in the North East by increasing the uptake of the seasonal flu vaccination and benefits to reduce fuel poverty.
It is working with the Economy, Culture and Environment Group to
commission research on fuel poverty.
The group will consider ways of boosting take-up of the flu immunisation by
those over 85 years old as well as carers
It will also explore transport issues for older people and provide support to
both the regional implementation of the national dementia strategy and
development of an end of life charter.
