Economy, Culture and Environment
The group is concentrating on three main areas of work – improving health through transport solutions, reducing fuel poverty and making health a more important part of the regional economic strategy.
The top priorities in a report on transport which makes 27 recommendations are
to influence the design of new developments and traffic planning to reduce car
use, encourage active travel and reduce urban speed limits to 20 mph.
In partnership with the Later Life advisory group a request for public health
funding has been made to commission a further report to shape priorities on
fuel poverty.
The group is also seeking to play a leading role in shaping the health-related
elements of the regional strategy for sustainable economic growth.
