Regional Strategies
The Review of Sub National Economic Development and Regeneration announced that, in future, each English region will have a single strategy integrating the Regional Economic Strategy and Regional Spatial Strategy. One NorthEast would be given executive responsibility for developing the strategy and a forum of local authority leaders would agree it before it is submitted.
These strategies and plans provide the guidance for changing the course the North East needs to chart its course over the coming decades. They cover the economic life of the region, the education and skills of its people, and the region’s land, roads and environment. The RES and RSS are the lead delivery strategies for the region, with the Integrated Regional Framework providing a key set of objectives and principles to guide them and measure progress.
