One North East board reappointments

Published: Thu, 30 Apr 2009 14:22:08

Pat McFadden, Minister of State for Employment Relations and Postal Affairs, today announced the reappointment of three existing members of the Board of One North East.

Ruth Thompson, Paul Callaghan, and Councillor Peter Jackson will take up their three-year reappointments on 14 December 2009.

Pat McFadden said "I am pleased to be reappointing Ruth Thompson, Paul Callaghan, and Peter Jackson to the board of One North East. Their experience and leadership is extremely important during these difficult economic times.

"The RDA's work providing real help for families in the North East and the businesses on which they depend for their jobs has never been more vital. They are on the frontline of our response to the global downturn and must make the right interventions and investments to help us emerge stronger."

Margaret Fay, Chairman of One North East, said "I am delighted that Ruth, Paul and Peter are to continue on the board for another three years. They have made a very valuable contribution to the Agency's work, particularly in recent times, where we have had to move quickly and decisively to support businesses affected by the recession.

"They also have the skills and knowledge to help steer the Agency's activities with more longer-term aims in areas such as digital business and science-based industries – the areas that will position the North East more strongly in the future.

"I very much look forward to continue working alongside them."
