The event due to be held on 7 May will now run on Thursday, 29 May.
UK Trade & Investment has joined forces with Northumbria Larder to host the event to allow delegates to find out about the benefits of visiting the world's leading food industry show, SIAL.
SIAL, which takes place in Paris, France from 19 to 23 October, is a showcase for innovation in the food industry and offers a truly global platform.
Jeff Bean, UK Trade & Investment's Regional Specialist International Trade Adviser for the food and drink sector, explained:
"SIAL attracts more than 140,000 visitors and 5,300 exhibitors every year. It is the key event for food industry professionals from food manufacturers and retailers to distributors, importers and wholesalers as well as those involved in institutional and commercial catering.
"We know the North East has a lot to offer and we've teamed up with Northumbria Larder to organise this event to show local companies what attending an exhibition like SIAL can do for their business.
"UK Trade & Investment is planning a market visit to coincide with SIAL and companies will be able to find out more at the event."
John Cleave, Vice Consul at the British Consulate in Lille, will be on hand to offer an introduction to SIAL, while Guy Woodall, of Thorncroft Drinks Ltd will talk about his company's experiences in international markets.
Michael McCallum, of Northumbria Larder, will give an insight into the North East food and drink industry while Jeff Bean will be on hand to talk about the market visit and discuss the wide range of support services available through UK Trade & Investment to help companies involved in international trade.
The event at Northumbria Larder, Beaufort Park, Anick Road, Hexham, 10am-1pm on Thursday 29 May, is free but the number of places available is limited. A buffet lunch is included.
