HSBC trade and supply chain and UK trade and Investment join forces to boost UK exports

Published: Tue, 24 Mar 2009 09:15:39

North East firms are being offered the chance to find out how they can benefit from a new joint initiative signed by HSBC Holdings Plc and UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) to help UK exporters of all sizes capitalise on trade opportunities in 2009.
The joint HSBC / UKTI initiative is aimed at providing training events and additional trade assistance for businesses looking to enhance their ability to grow their international export business.

A series of international trade workshops will take place across the UK and have been developed by HSBC and UKTI to help demystify the processes of doing business internationally and advise on the requirements and paperwork needed to successfully trade overseas.

The North East workshop will be held on Friday, 3 April at HSBC, Kingsway, Team Valley Trading Estate, Gateshead 8.30am until noon. The event is free but the number of places is limited.

The first phase of this initiative is a series of breakfast workshops to be held throughout England. The workshops are aimed specifically at SME's preparing to or already trading overseas. These interactive events presented by experienced UKTI Trade advisors and HSBC Trade & Treasury specialists will provide advice on the opportunities and challenges in exporting, and help companies understand how to prepare their international strategy and avoid some of the common pitfalls. The events will cover:

  • the process of trading internationally.
  • how you can enter the market of your choice more effectively.
  • understanding the risks involved in trading overseas and how to mitigate them.
  • how to finance international growth.
  • management of currency risks.

Businesses interested in attending the international trade workshops should send an email to: pcm.enquiries@hsbc.com
