Free seminars for business to help beat the credit crunch

Published: Thu, 30 Oct 2008 08:40:19

North East firms are being offered the chance to find out how exporting can help beat the credit crunch at a special series of free seminars organised by UK Trade and Investment.

Look outside the bubble to beat the credit crunch is a mini-roadshow of events taking place at various venues across the south of the region during November and December.

All the events are free but the number of places is limited. For more information or to book a place contact the North East International Trade Hotline on 0845 05 05 054 or email enquiries@ukti.rito.co.uk

Jonathan Gamblin, one of UK Trade and Investment's International Trade Advisors who is coordinating the events, explained "The credit crunch is something that affects us all – both individuals and businesses. But while it may mean we have to tighten our belts it should not deter companies from exploring overseas opportunities.

"By broadening their horizons companies can benefit not just from bringing in new business but it also spreads the risks.

"Our free seminars offer a chance to find out about the many benefits of international trade and the wide range of support available through UK Trade & Investment and its partners to help companies succeed.

"There will also be representatives from companies who have already made the move into overseas markets. They will be on hand to discuss their own experiences and offer some advice on how to access a new market."

The seminars will be held as follows:

  • Tuesday, 18 November at Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle
10.30am-1.15pm with International Trade Advisor Geoff Charlesworth
  • Tuesday, 25 November at Guisborough Hall, Guisborough
10.30am-1.15pm with International Trade Advisor Keith Stockdale
  • Tuesday, 2 December at Belasis Business Centre, Billingham
8am-10.30am with International Trade Advisor Jonathan Gamblin.

Following each of the seminars there will be an opportunity for one-to-one sessions with the International Trade Advisors to allow delegates to discuss their own business potential.
