Roadworks lifted for Bank Holiday weekend

Published: Thu, 21 May 2009 10:47:59

The Highways Agency is removing roadworks from the motorways and major A roads in the North East over the late May bank holiday weekend wherever it is safe to do so.

Four sets of roadworks will be completed before 06:00 on Friday 22 May and roadworks or lane restrictions will be removed from a further six locations between 06:00 on Friday 22 May and 00.01 on Tuesday 26 May. Roadworks will remain in place at two locations for the safety of drivers and their passengers.

Nationally, 26 sets of roadworks will be completed, a further 65 are being suspended and 28 will remain for safety reasons.

Information about road conditions on the motorways and major A roads managed by the Highways Agency is available from the information line (08457 50 40 30), the website http://www.highways.gov.uk/trafficinfo or by tuning in to DAB digital Traffic Radio or local radio stations for up to date information while on the move.
