This is a companion document to the Strategic Priorities Framework 2008-11 published early this year which sets out the Network’s collective priorities agreed with our sponsor departments.

New Grassroots Grants scheme available for voluntary and community groups

New Darlington Sports Initiative to use football to tackle alcohol and drug use

Home Office minister Vernon Coaker said football and other sports play a positive role in diverting substance misusers away from alcohol, drugs and crime at the launch of the Darlington Sports Initiative. Sports can also be used to improve the health and self-esteem of drug and alcohol misusers which can in turn lead to benefits not just for them but for the wider community.
