London Resilience Team

The London Resilience Partnership is a partnership between the Government, the Mayor of London and all the capital’s key responding agencies and organisations to prepare London for the consequences of a major emergency.

London Regional Resilience Forum

The London Regional Resilience Forum is the principal mechanism for supporting the planning and co-operation at the regional level. It brings together senior representatives from the Resilience Partnership involved in responding to emergencies within London (known as Category 1 & 2 responders) to ensure effective co-ordination and strategic planning is delivered across a range of key capabilities and ensures effective co-ordination with Central and Regional Government.

The London Regional Resilience Forum is co-chaired by Tessa Jowell, Minister for London, and the Parliamentary under Secretary for Communities and Local Government Lord McKenzie. The Deputy Chair is Boris Johnson, Mayor of London.

The London Regional Resilience Forum is supported in its work by a number of Sector Panels and by the London Resilience Programme Board. Additionally, as required by the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, there are six London Local Resilience Forums, chaired by Local Authority Chief Executives which contribute towards developing London’s resilience policy.

Whilst the Forum sets the strategic direction for pan London emergency planning, the London Resilience Programme Board oversees and monitors the work programme on behalf of the Forum. Both groups are supported by the London Resilience Team (LRT).

London Prepared Website

The Partnership website, www.Londonprepared.gov.uk, contains more details on the work of the Forum, and a wide range of useful information for both the public and those involved in emergency planning. Copies of all published plans can also be downloaded from the site.

London Resilience Programme Board

The London Resilience Programme Board is the operational arm of the Partnership which oversees the work of the London Resilience Team. It is made up of partners who contribute resource to LRT and is chaired by the Head of the LRT.

The London Resilience Team, part of the Government Office for London, consists of civil servants and specialist advisors seconded from London Resilience Partner organisations. The team is headed by a senior civil servant and supports the work of the London Resilience Partnership.

In particular the London Resilience Team:

  • Facilitates delivery of the Government’s civil protection and resilience agenda within London
  • Delivers and facilitates pan London strategic, multi-agency emergency planning; and
  • In an emergency, provides a link between the responding agencies and Government.
