Regional Team Advisors for the Regional Research & Analysis Programme - Expressions of Interest

Published: Wed, 11 Jun 2008 14:39:42

Expressions of interest (EOI) are sought for regional team advisors to support the Home Office Regional Research & Analysis Teams.

Background:
The Home Office Regional Research and Analysis Programme (RRAP) was established in 2002 and assists in the delivery of the Home Office strategy by providing research and analytical support to the Home Office Policing and Crime Standards Directorate and through directly supporting the Home Office Regional Deputy Directors and their teams. This support enables Government Offices (GO) and the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) teams to work with local partnerships to reduce crime and support delivery of the Home Office Public Service Agreements. The RRAP provides in-depth analysis and research to support delivery and assists evidence-based GO and WAG decision making and practice.

Requirements
We wish to commission regional team advisors for each of the four RRAP area teams (North [North West, North East Yorkshire and Humberside]; Midlands [the East Midlands and West Midlands]; South East, East & London; and South West & Wales) to provide up to six days per month support per team starting 1st September 2008.   In some areas we may contract two advisors; where this is the case, advisors will be expected to provide up to three days of support per month.

The contracts are to run for 12 months (from 1st September 2008 to 31st August 2009) in the first instance, with an option for a further 12 months if required.

Role of the advisors
The purpose of the regional team advisor is to provide a source of flexible support and additional capacity to the RRAP. This role will be varied and would include, for example, advising on analysis of crime and disorder data to identify priority problems in the region; helping local partnerships to adopt a problem-solving approach; and assisting the RRAP teams in designing and conducting internal research projects.
