Historic ballroom`s future secure

A 1950s ballroom has been given listed status to protect its "rare and exotic" interior for the future. A campaign to protect the Rivoli Ballroom in Brockley, south London, was launched by fans when the building was put up for sale in December 2007. They feared the building would be demolished to build blocks of flats. English Heritage`s application for Grade II listed status to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport was accepted shortly after.
