£60 million for new body to tackle London’s waste

Improvements to the way London manages its waste will be supported by Government funding of £60m over the next three years, Environment Minister Joan Ruddock has announced. The £60m fund is the amalgamation into a single pot of local authority allocations for all the London Boroughs under Defra’s Waste Infrastructure Capital Grant, and London`s share of the Waste Performance and Efficiency Grant. £22.8m will be provided in 2008/09 and in 2009/10, and £14.4m in 2010/11.
