The strategy presents an
ambitious set of policy responses to equip people with the skills needed to
secure economic growth. One of they key themes is an increased focus on
remedying Britain’s long standing weakness in intermediate skills,
including creating a modern technician class. There are also
important statements about employer influence over the content of learning,
new skills accounts to put purchasing power in the hands of individual
learners, developing apprenticeships and simplifying the skills
system.
