London wins funds to tackle burglary and robbery

Published: Fri, 16 Oct 2009 15:51:58

The Vigilance Programme is a Home Office initiative targeting 35 areas across the country including 10 London boroughs.

Support is provided to areas that are most at risk and where most offences occur. The focus is on creating integrated offender management systems. Areas will be offered grants of around £100-150k depending on need and the aim is to kick-start sustained reductions in crime rates.

The London boroughs involved are Westminster, Enfield, Waltham Forest, Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Bexley, Bromley, Croydon and Merton.
