London Regional Committee

The Minister for the Cabinet office, the Olympics and London is giving evidence to the London Select Committee on Wednesday 24 February. This will cover both the subject of their first inquiry, ‘London’s Population and the 2011 Census’ and the work of the Government Office for London (GOL) and I’ll be accompaning the Minister at the hearing.
Young Mayors at GOL

The Young Mayor Network is a partnership between the 4 London Boroughs which have established Young Mayors (Lewisham, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Lambeth), with the idea being to co-ordinate efforts across London, share resources and encourage other boroughs to initiate their own Young Mayor Schemes.
Future Jobs Fund

We are now in a position where 11,500 job bids have been approved across London, from locally focussed bids through to large national bids. Jobs included are as diverse as sports coaches to community recycling posts, childcare to forestry.
The opportunity for further FJF bids from London’s Local Authorities and their partners continues, currently monthly bidding rounds will continue until the end of November 2010.
Transforming Londons Public Services Event, March 2nd

GOL and the London School of Economics are hosting the above event to look at the opportunities that collaboration within boroughs and across London offers. The event will draw together senior stakeholders from Departments across Whitehall, London Local Authorities, local and regional service delivery partners, and pan London organisations.

GOL's Prevent Strategy Team launched its 'PEP Talk: Improving Political Engagement on Prevent in London' film on 19th November at Church House Conference Centre in Westminster, to an audience of Leaders, Lead Members on Prevent, Local Authority representatives and representatives from central government. The film aims to encourage greater political engagement among elected members on Prevent across the region.
