Local Area Agreements

Local Area Agreements (LAAs) are a three year agreement between a local authority and central government that details the priorities that a local area will focus on and determine how various agents (including public, private, and third sector bodies) will work together through a local strategic partnership (LSP) to improve quality of life for citizens

A copy of the LAAs for London can be accessed here.

The Local Government White paper, Strong and prosperous communities published by Communities and Local Government in October 2006 introduced a new style of statutory LAA for 2008-2011.

The new LAAs also include a reward element linked to progress made in achieving the designated targets agreed with central government. Guidance on how the new reward works as part of Local Area Agreements can be found here.
