The first LSC Pan London ESF Programme - ‘Pan London 1’ - was launched in May 2004 and is currently delivering £29.5 million of ESF. Pan London 1 is funding 58 projects and is on the way to achieving a significant impact on learning and skills training in London.
GOL has now secured a further £72 million of ESF to be spent by the London Co-Financing Organisations and the LSC will use their allocation of this sum - £35 million - to develop Pan London 2. Once established, Pan London 2 will run until mid 2008.
The approach of Pan London 2 is different to the first Pan London Programme. Whereas all Pan London 1 projects are large, regional projects, Pan London 2 will fund projects of both regional and local scope. Clearly however, Pan London 2 will build on and liaise closely with Pan London 1. In terms of delivery, Pan London 2 will be run in a similar manner to Pan London 1 in that the LSC will appoint a Coordinating Organisation to manage providers. The CO will be appointed via an open and competitive tendering exercise to be launched shortly.
Pan London 2 is in the very early stages of development, with the recently appointed Programme Manager, Robbie Jefferis, working within the Regional ESF team to lead on programme development including the specific activities to be funded. It is currently expected that the tendering round for project delivery will be held in early 2006. Further information and documents will be placed on this website as soon as they are available.
