The Home Office provides research and analytical support for community safety work in Government Offices and the Welsh Assembly Government. This work support the efforts of Government Office and the Welsh Assembly teams to improve the performance of local partnerships and spread good practice.

The main areas for research and analytical support in London are:
1) Problem solving and building analytical capacity in GOL and priority partnerships to support the new crime strategy and CDRP reform programme.
This includes supporting the implementation of CDRP national standards and developing analytical capacity within partnerships and across regional research cluster teams.
2) Interpretation of centrally produced performance monitoring information in support of Home Office-GOL performance review process and LAA monitoring and review.
For example assisting GOL in the performance management processes and negotiations around PSAs and LAAs including preliminary and further analysis where needed.
3) Advice to GOL and partnerships on identification of good practice.
This includes developing cluster team-wide overviews of crime and disorder as well as research and evaluation to identify good practice.
