A number of recent policy developments around children and young people have significantly shaped the Government Office role in this important area of work.

In response to Every Child Matters: Change for Children, Government Office for London has formed the London Children & Young People’s Team. The team will work towards three main objectives:
- To promote the needs of children and young people within GOL, ensuring the coordination of GOL sponsored services and programmes that contain a child or young person focus.
- To ensure that London children and young people’s issues are integrated into Central Government policies.
- To work in conjunction with key pan London stakeholders (for example the GLA, LGA, ALG) to promote and influence policy, strategy and service delivery affecting London’s children and young people.
